Quake Con 2012: Dishonored Hands-On

We got our hands-on with Dishonored, Bethesda’s new game, being developed by Arkane Studios.

You play an assassin on his quest for revenge, and basically you get your revenge however you decide to. You can be a maniac going guns blazing, you can be a clean and efficient stealth assassin taking only the life of the target, or go anywhere in between. The game supplies you with various weapons and abilities, and let you decide how you’ll go about completing the mission, with an almost infinite number of ways to do it, everyone will have their own answer to even the most simple tasks in this game.

This game is by far one of the most well made stealth/action games I’ve ever seen. It allows for so much user input with very little of the automation that seems to be over taking games lately. For example, when you jump over a bannister or climb a wall, the animation and movement feels very natural. It’s dialog is interesting, and the voice acting doesn’t feel forced. The game handles smoothly and feels very responsive. The enemy AI is amazing… you can turn it up to the highest difficulty, to the point where you really do have to think tactically.

I see Dishonored as having a strong possibility of winning game of the year.  I admit I was a skeptic at first, but after really getting my hands on it, I realize just how special this game really is. So look forward to Dishonored, when it hits the shelves on its release date of October 9th 2012.
