Sony Developer Says that The Last Guardian Is Still In Development

The Last Guardian. The 3rd game from Team Ico. Not much has been heard about this title for the last few months. After its lead designer, Fumito Ueda, quit the team and got hired back on as a 3rd party consultant by Sony its been pretty quiet. But during TGS 2012, a developer at Sony, who didn’t want his name mentioned, has told Kotaku that the much anticipated game is still being developed for the Playstation 3.

He not only confirms that its still being made, but it will definitely be for PS3, not PS4 like some fans speculated. Furthermore, Fumito Ueda is actively involved with the project. He also says that a lot of the controversy over this title was because Sony announced  The Last Guardian way too early in the development process. He calls the game a “very ambitious project.”

There are lots of pieces to the puzzle,” said the developer. “It’s a matter of getting them to fit together.

He says that the reason that Sony isn’t showing The Last Guardian at Tokyo Game Show 2012 (and other trade shows) is because they’re now waiting for games to be closer to complete before they start announcing titles. We’ll have more information on this game as it comes.
