Movies For Gamers: Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Movies For Gamers is a section of BabysoftMurderhands.com where we post and discuss a trailer for a classic cult movie. The movies we select will hopefully be movies that gamers will love too. And of course, if you haven’t seen it, we’ll give you a link to get it.

Although this may seem like an unconventional choice, Pan’s Labyrinth covers a lot of familiar ground for gamers. Written, Directed & Produced by Guillermo Del Toro Pan’s Labyrinth takes viewers on a dark, yet enchanted journey. A young girl has to complete 3 unearthly challenges to prove that she is infact a princess of a mystical world. During this time she encounters various creatures including a faun and the grotesque Pale Man. A blend of animatronics, make up and CGI give this movie a living texture that helps make the story come to life.

While there are is no direct video game relationship to this film, gamers who play fantasy adventure games & RPG’s will probably like this the most. Fans of the Legend of Zelda series, ICO, and other (sometimes) dark fantasy games will appreciate this movie not only for its adventure but for its wonderful aesthetic.
