In an interesting tid bit from China, Jet Li, who is an avid MMO player and martial artist gave an interview at an Age of Wushu global PvP tournament. The interesting part of this story is not only does he play but also believes that gaming can be a sport. The Chinese born wushu champ explains, “If poker card games and chess both have the players sitting down and are considered sports, why not virtual gaming as well? There are 2 kinds of sports, 1 physical and 1 mental. There is no good reason to debunk virtual gaming as a sport, and I believe the participants of such virtual PvP events have the same mentality as physical athletes.”

As e-sports are commonly criticized, this is an interesting and refreshing from view from someone who is also an athlete.
