If you like 2D fighters, chances are you’re familiar with Arc System Works and it’s lineage of fighters like Guilty Gear X and BlazblueBlazblue Director Toshimichi Mori explained to Japanese magazine Dengeki that he’s looking forward to the PS4 although has his reservations about development cost. He is also interested in the use of the Playstation 4‘s Share button although wonders if less “connected” countries will lose some of it’s value. He also elaborates that with the PS3, his team was limited to only being able to show 2 characters on screen due to it’s RAM limitations. He says the PS4 will have enough resources to display 4 characters. This could hint at the next Arc System Works game being a possible 4 player fighter or even a tag team fighting game. Furthermore, Mori confirms that Arc System Works is working on a new PS4 game but that he cannot confirm the title of it. He also added that, “We’re a fighting game maker – so we’re thinking of doing a fighting game. I want to make a new title to follow Guilty Gear and BlazBlue – a third title. Guilty Gear was made for Dreamcast originally, BlazBlue was meant for PS3 soon after it launched – so now that PS4 is coming out we’d like to make a completely new title for it.”

Toshimichi Mori also expressed his satisfaction with development for the Playstation Vita, which both BlazBlue and Guilty Gear are on. This could potentially lead to further releases from Arc System Works on Sony’s portable system.

One of the most popular 2D fighting games of all time is making it’s way to the Playstation Vita in it’s most up to date and arcade perfect form. Guilty Gear XX AC Plus R, which so far has only been released in japanese arcades (yes, they still exist there) and the japanese Playstation Vita last month. Arc System Works USA announced it via twitter in a rather unusual form, but it is announced none the less. Guilty Gear XX AC Plus R’s release date is April 23, 2013 for the Playstation Vita. It will cost $14.99 as a downloadable game on PSN. Arc System Works USA also said that there is “no date for EU right now.”

A photo of an upcoming issue of Famitsu were posted online announcing Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R will be released on Playstation Vita in Japan. Arc System Works hasn’t confirmed this release as of yet. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is the latest arcade iteration of the long running Guilty Gear X series which is scheduled to hit arcades later this month. It’s also scheduled for PS3 and XBL next month (without the R features intact although those are scheduled to be included in a patch down the line).

The PS Vita version will include full voice acting as well as all of the balancing and tweaks from the new arcade edition of the game. It will also include tuned controls for better gameplay on the Playstation Vita.

Japanese magazine Famitsu posted an article today saying that Arksystem Works will be releasing its flagship fighting title Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. To some of you this may seem like a 3 year old title being released, and well it is. But Ark also promises to update the mechanics of this game to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R sometime in the near future (possibly October if Google Translate serves accurate). Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is slated for arcade release this September in Japan. So far, no official mention of a US release has been made yet for either version.

Another cool thing Japan will be getting is this awesome looking arcade stick. It’s a Sanwa “Quiet Stick” which will be available for PS3.
