Zone of the Enders sequel cancelled HD PS3 patch

Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders creator Hideo Kojima sounded off during a recent radio show discussing the future of the ZOE series. Kojima expressed his dissatisfaction with the ports of the PS2 classics in Zone of the Enders HD Collection (done by High Voltage Software). Particularly, he felt the drops in frames per second and choppiness in action scenes was unfair to fans. Consequently, he offered his deepest apologies to fans, especially of the PS2 versions who could really see the difference. To make things right, Hideo Kojima has his team completely reprogrammed the game and will be releasing a free patch to Playstation 3 users which will be officially announced at a later date. The Xbox 360 version will not be patched according to reports.

After that bit of good news, and you better believe it’s good news when a developer fixes software after it’s released, comes some slightly troubling news. Although he stops short of canceling the title, Kojima is putting the Zone of the Enders sequel (which was announced last year) on hold. He explains that the entire team that was working on the Ender’s Project (aka Anubis 2 in Japan) has been disbanded in Kojima’s efforts to review the franchise. His goal is to figure out what should be the next step for the ZOE series and if fans even want a new ZOE game. The game was to be developed using Kojima Productions & Konami’s new Fox Engine.

Otacon Otakon cosplay Metal Gear Solid MGS nerd lol
If you’ve ever been to a con there have always been Snakes slithering around. Solid Snake, from the Metal Gear series,  is a popular character to cosplay, however Otacon is not. I believe this for the fact that you can’t really tell if the cosplay is Otacon, a pharmacist, a doctor, or just some hipster douchebag wearing a lab coat. This MGS Otacon cosplayer had a funny and obvious way to show it by utilizing the codec graphics from the game, as well as having a hilarious caption. The cosplayer is HEDGESMFG, and showed this off at Otakon of course.

Welcome to Cover Art! A section of the site where we look at a retro video game’s box cover art and briefly discuss it’s gameplay and legacy.

Gradius III is a shmup (shoot-em-up) developed by Konami, originally for arcades and later, for the SNES. It was a US Super Nintendo launch released in August of 1991.

Considered by many to be one of the hardest games of all time, Gradius III pits you in outer space combat against the Bacterion Empire. None of that matters as the brutal difficulty of Gradius III is what makes it stand out. It’s gameplay is notably unique from other shooters in the genre since Gradius uses a power up system which lets you decide which upgrades you’ll get progressively. Furthermore, Gradius III features one of the most memorable game soundtracks on the SNES. If you couldn’t tell, I really love Gradius III. The SNES version available for Nintendo’s Wii Virtual Console and the arcade version was released on the PS2 and PSP.
