In a not so surprising announcement Ubisoft has officially announced the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. The graphic from the just-leaked Assassin’s Creed 4 trailer also suggests a release on Sony’s PS4 or Microsoft’s next hardware iteration. Furthermore, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has a release date of October 29, 2013. This could potentially hint at the release date for the Playstation 4 and Xbox 720.
Leaks and speculation thus far point to the game being a “pirate” themed Assassin’s Creed. Rumor has it that in Assassin’s Creed 4 gamers will take control of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed 3 protagonist Connor Kenway. The games location is in the Caribbean Sea; a leaked image of a map of Cuba has surfaced, and is set to take place in the early 18th century. Obviously, we’re all assuming that the game will heavily feature the maritime mechanics found in Assassin’s Creed 3. Stay tuned, as we’ll have more on the details as they become available.
