Phoenix Comicon is in less than a week and with it brings some really cool local gaming cosplay, events and of course panels.

One of our writers, Mercurius FM, will be hosting a few pop culture and gaming panels that should interest our readers including panels on Retro Video Game Music and remixes, Dystopian Societies as well as a class on the History of Doom and ID Software.

Topics will include mega corporations, cybernetics, transhumanism, and government oppression.

How did a small group of computer programming wiz-kids become Ferrari-driving gaming rockstars? This panel discusses the history of Id Software including Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake. We also look at what they’re doing now, and what the future could hold. This will also include a discussion on the controversial 2016 Doom reboot.

With the rise of both video games and dance music to mainstream popularity, gamers and DJ’s are often one and the same. We have curated a selection of some of the very best video game remixes ever made. Video game remixes demonstrated will range from Sonic and Mega Man to Doom and F-Zero. We will also give some information for those who would like to become video game music remixers including tips and advice on arrangement and effects from dance music artist Mercurius FM.
