Metal Gear Solid Social Ops announced at Metal Gear Anniversary Event

Today was the celebration for Metal Gear’s 25th Anniversary in Tokyo, Japan. Konami announced a new title called Metal Gear Solid Social Ops. It’s a social networking game that will use the GREE platform in Japan. For those that don’t know, GREE is a cross platform network that allows gamers to follow each other’s scores across multiple games. For those of us in the US, similar services exist such as Apple’s Game Center and Open Feint (which GREE owns). There has been no word yet if there will be a US or international release.

Under the hood, the game was developed using the popular Unity engine which brings a solid visual experience on various platforms. Beyond these details, no other information was revealed about about this new MGS game.

Metal Gear Solid Social Ops is scheduled for a release date sometime this Fall or Winter for Android and iOS and will be playable at this years Fall Tokyo Game Show next month.
