Movies For Gamers is a section of BabysoftMurderhands.com where we post and discuss a trailer for a classic cult movie. The movies we select will hopefully be movies that gamers will love too. And of course, if you haven’t seen it, we’ll give you a link to get it.
Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis as the venerable John McClane, is one of the most influential action movies of all time. There’s even a movie sub-genre called the “die hard scenario” because it’s one of the first, if not the first to pit one man against many bad guys, in a single place with a timer. A bad ass hero, explosions, machine guns and cool one liners are some of the things you will enjoy in Die Hard. Alan Rickman also stars in the movie playing the perfect bad guy who commands his gang of henchmen.
Die Hard is still a great film. It’s also spawned a series of sequels which are also pretty good. There are a few Die Hard video games, although none of them will really impress you now, they were good for their time. Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza on PC follows the story pretty closely as FPS. There’s also some pretty cool NES, C64 and DOS games which, although each plays differently, do a decent job of following the film. Sega made an arcade brawler game, but it’s relation to the movie pretty much ends with the title. There’s also Die Hard Trilogy released for Playstation and Saturn which was well received upon it’s release.
