The latest details on Suda 51’s Killer Is Dead reveal more of it’s gameplay including Katana Arts and Gigolo Missions. Yeah. The sword combat in Killer Is Dead is pretty fleshed out (pun intended). Mondo’s sword is called Gekkou, which means Moonlight in Japanese. When you kill an enemy, the sword absorbs their blood which restores Mondo’s strength enabling him to chain together powerful combos. Basic combat revolves around slash, guard, and dodge; although there are variations to these which add depth. For example, if you guard a strike at the proper time it will stun your enemy leaving them open for you to take advantage of. Furthermore, Mondo has a cybernetic gun arm which affords him the ability to get back and keep some distance from his enemies. And yes, there are head shots.
Now onto Killer Is Dead’s gigolo missions. It plays a bit like a dating sim, which Japan is notorious for. Gigolo missions revolve on Mondo seducing a woman, which if done right, makes her fall in love with you. On the other hand, if you’re not quite the Casanova, you may also get Mondo slapped in the face. To make things more, eh… hrm, interesting, is Mondo’s “Gigolo Glasses”. There are 2 types, a black pair and a pink pair. The black glasses allow you to see through the woman’s clothes down to her underwear. The pink ones seem to look into her heart, which will aid you with seducing her.
