Today is the first day of the fiscal year for many businesses. In it’s press release to investors Sony announced that it is closing Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment Asia, and Sony Computer Entertainment Pan-Asia to replace them with Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia.
This doesn’t directly affect gamers, but it means that Sony is restructuring. These things include changes to management, quality control, first party publishing, development and more. Perhaps this will lead to more collaboration between Sony’s international studios. Hiroshi Kawano will keep his seat as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA).
