Final Fantasy fans rejoice, this year is Final Fantasy’s 25th Anniversary! Square Enix has created a special collectors set for die hard fans called the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box. What does this ultimate box include? Well, how about all 13 Final Fantasy games.
Here are the games being included in Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box:
- Final Fantasy (PSone)
- Final Fantasy II (PSone)
- Final Fantasy III (PSP)
- Final Fantasy IV (PSone)
- Final Fantasy V (PSone)
- Final Fantasy VI (PSone)
- Final Fantasy VII (PSone)
- Final Fantasy VIII (PSone)
- Final Fantasy IX (PSone)
- Final Fantasy X (PS2)
- Final Fantasy XI (PS2)
- Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
- Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Interestingly, these are not ports to Playstation 3… the ultimate box will include 21 discs with games for the systems they were originally on or remade on. Also, no word of an Xbox 360 edition.
Here’s the breakdown on the disc formats…
- 18 PSone Disc
- 3 PS2 Disc
- 1 PS3 Disc
- 1 PSP UMD
If that’s not enough… the set will include a special anniversary video disc, a double CD Final Fantasy series soundtrack compilation, Final Fantasy XIV item code for in-game “mogu mogu” earrings, a print of the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary artwork illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano and a Final Fantasy art book called Crystal Artworks.
This package has a scheduled Japanese release date of December 13, 2012. The same day of the year the original Final Fantasy came out in Japan in 1987. The price for the Ultimate Box is estimated at about ¥35,000 or $477 US. No word on a US release date yet.
The Final Fantasy series has a catalog of over 40 games, selling over 100 million copies. Most gamers can pick out their favorite Final Fantasy game… personally, I would pick Final Fantasy IV or Final Fantasy VII.
