According to DayZ creator Dean “Rocket” Hall, Sony has met with him and discussed his amazingly popular Arma II mod, DayZ. DayZ, which is being converted into a stand alone game, allows for open world, free roaming zombie survival. The game is primarily played online on vast maps with zombies roaming the land. Hall is still working on the stand alone PC version of DayZ and explains that console ports would be dependent on it’s success, “Certainly I think if we don’t, for want of a better word ‘fuck up,’ the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain. I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I’m not a console gamer, I’m a PC gamer, but I don’t think it necessarily has to hurt things.”
He continued that the PS4 looks to be the best platform, “It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see. We’ve talked and met with Sony, and they’re very – you know, they’re obviously interested.”
Currently, the PC version of DayZ is undergoing optimizations and fixes from it’s currently existing mod version. These including anti-hacking measures and improving server performance.
