Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden may have started off as an arcade game but the NES version ofNinja Gaiden is really what made the series popular. They were released at about the same time with the NES version featuring simplified graphics yet faster gameplay. A few years later the series was remade and remastered for the SNES as part of Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.
We love shmups here at BSMH. Todays cover art is of an obscure side scrolling shooter called Hellfire. It was developed by Toaplan who made the infamous Zero Wing (“All your base are belong to us“). This cover is really typical for the shootemup genre, but cool nonetheless.

No, this is not a Doctor Who video game… This is a game released by Milton Bradley and developed by Rare for the NES. Its an adventure game about time travel. Check out the cool cover art below…
This was one of our favorite Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games. X-Men 2: Clone Wars. The game controls and plays a bit like Shinobi III, which is great. It features various characters and scenarios related to the comic book and 90’s animated series.
The cover art has a sort of clean and graphic look to it. From an art perspective, I think its pretty cool.
