Immediately after Rockstar announced the pre-order date for GTAV, fans began rapidly requesting details on a PC release date. Literally thousands of comments amassed (over 2 hours…) before Rockstar commented on the possibility of a Windows release of Grand Theft Auto V.
“Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we’re currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don’t have any details to share about a PC version at this time. Anyone that continues to spam the comments section will have their commenting privileges suspended.”
So, there you have it, no info yet. But let’s look to history for answers…
Grand Theft Auto III
PS2 release: October 22, 2001
PC release: May 20, 2002
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
PS2 release: October 29, 2002
PC release: May 1, 2003
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
PS2 release: October 26, 2004
PC release: June 7, 2005
Grand Theft Auto IV
PS3 release: April 29, 2008
PC release: December 2, 2008
The pattern we see here is that the PC version of GTA usually follows between 6 months to a year after the first console release. So take it easy everybody. I’m sure Rockstar will make a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V.
