New Suda 51 Game: Killer Is Dead Trailer + Screens

Killer Is Dead Suda 51 Screenshots 1

The latest game by industry luminary Goichi Suda, aka Suda 51, is called Killer Is Dead. Suda 51, who is well known for games like Killer7No More HeroesShadows of the Damned, and Lollipop Chainsaw is now working on a new action game IP about a contract killer. The main character, Mondo Zapper, is an executioner although at first glance appears to be an average Japanese salaryman in his suit and tie. The trailer is highly stylized, showing glimpses of gameplay which depicts a 3rd person, hack’n’slash action game. The enemies you fight die brutally and the bosses seem to be large, interesting and challenging. The game has a sort of unique visual style that you’ll either love or hate, which is typical of Suda 51 games.

Check it out in the Killer Is Dead debut trailer below…

At the end of the trailer you can see that there will be a series of trailers and shorts that will reveal glimpses of the games story. Mondo Zapper has a cybernetic arm which can shoot and collect energy but uses a katana as his primary weapon. The synopsis of the story begins with “and the trip to the moon, remodeling of the human body” (loosely translated from Japanese with Google Translate).  The futuristic themes in the game basically make this a cyberpunk story, which is pretty awesome. Consequently, Killer Is Dead will be a fairly adult and violent experience.

It’s release date is set for sometime in Summer 2013 in Japan for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. No information regarding a North American release has been mentioned.
