Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is an indirect sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Although it is technically a sequel, this story doesn’t follow the original characters and is set 60 years later in the world. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is being developed by Thechineseroom and published by the original developer/publisher Frictional Games. Oswald Mandus, a industrialist, is the leading character of this Amnesia (sorry guys no Daniel), and in this Amnesia family is a key feature, too. Apparently Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will focus on Oswald and his relationship with his children, using that as a hook to draw you in.
“There’s a much greater integration into society going on with Mandus, and that was partially about getting a different emotional tone to the game.” stated Dan Pinchbeck, a designer for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs.
There is still no set release date for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, but it will be coming out in the 2nd quarter of this year, 2013. Like the original Amnesia it will also be released on PC, Linux, and Mac. Here we have some truly horrifying Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs screenshots and peeks at the level design aspect of the game, including some outside shots.
As a fan of the first Amnesia.. I have to say I really really look forward to this sequel. How do you guys feel about the sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Decent?
