Valve has officially launched its new Steam feature called Greenlight. This is an indie game developers dream come true. After months of testing with indie developers Steam now is allowing its users to judge and decide what indie games will make it on to the Steam store.
“We’ve been working on this feature for the last few months with the input from a group of indie partners, and the response has been extremely positive,” said Valve’s Anna Sweet. “With the additional help of beta testers, we are able to launch with a solid line-up of titles for the community to start viewing and rating. And, as we’ve done with all Steam features, we intend to continually grow and modify Greenlight as more and more developers and community members have a chance to get involved.”
Steam has always been keen on community interaction and this is among the highest levels of community interaction. Not only can developers now become published via Steam and Valve, but it also offers them pretty much the largest global platform for which to release their games. There are already dozens of games on Steam Greenlight so start voting now!
