Today, Konami & Kojima Productions announced that its new Metal Gear title, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, will not be coming out on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in Japan. The Platinum Games developed title starring Raiden will only be released on PS3 in the land of the rising sun. Konami apologized for it, stating that it was due to various reasons. This sparked much concern in western markets about the release of the title. Later today, a Konami representative confirmed to Eurogamer that the game is still being released for Xbox 360 in the US and Europe. This is likely due to Japan being a very a weak market for the Xbox 360 having sold only 1.5 million units in Japan as of 2011 compared to PS3’s 6.3 million units.
