Here in America, we are used to getting the short end of the stick when it comes to amusement parks and video games when compared to Japan. Blatant examples of this can be found in our recent post about Monster Hunter in Universal Studios Japan. Japan even has a theme park dedicated to Gundam… Fortunately, American fans can celebrate for the arrival of Silent Hill, the acclaimed survival horror game series by Konami, at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando. Silent Hill will be featured at these 2 US theme parks as a part of their annual haunted scarefest, Halloween Horror Nights.
Halloween Horror Nights takes your favorite horror franchises and brings them to reality. It features scary mazes that look like high quality movie sets… costumed monsters and freaks walking around the park… enough gore to make the most people squeamish. In most cases this means familiar faces like Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jason from Friday the 13th. But this year, the good folks at Universal Studios are introducing Silent Hill to the roster.
Here is Universal’s description for the Welcome to Silent Hill maze…Welcome to Silent Hill Cross through the portal of pain from Fog World to Otherworld, where the forsaken town of Silent Hill awaits. Feel your blood freeze as you come face to face with Pyramid Head, the colossal executioner, armed with an enormous jagged blade. Go under the knives of devilishly disfigured nurses, determined to scar you for life. Struggle for your final gasps of air as the Bogeyman smashes everything in his path with his murderous hammer. It’s not a game. It’s not a movie. This time, the nightmare is real.
Here is the description for the Silent Hill “Scare Zone” (areas of the theme park filled with hundreds of specially trained “scareactors”):Silent Hill
Before you enter the world of Silent Hill, come face to face with the town’s most feared residents. Cower in fear as The Bogeyman towers over you, preparing to smash you to pieces. Feel every cut sink deep beneath your skin as hideously disfigured Nurses scar you for life. Pray for mercy as you confront Pyramid Head, the merciless executioner of The Otherworld, and hope that his great knife doesn’t find its mark! Remember, in Silent Hill, nothing is as it seems!
