In Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Direct, they announced a slew of new games. Most notably for many fans was the announcement of the remastered HD The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker remake for Wii U. They also announced that there will be a brand new Zelda game for the Wii U, although no details or release date were announced. They did show off some screenshots for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker remake on the Wii U.

As you can see in the screens above, Nintendo is paying special care to this remake of Wind Waker. Not only is the resolution boosted, but textures also appear more clear, with more vibrant colors. Nintendo says they’ve been experimenting with different art styles for Zelda and how they look in HD. Perhaps this could be a hint at the art style for the next gen Zelda title for the Wii U. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was originally released for Nintendo’s Gamecube in 2003 to mostly positive reviews and holds a Metacritic score of 96%. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker remake for Wii U has no set release date but is scheduled for sometime in Fall of 2013. Expect more news from us regarding Nintendo’s announcements.
