A bandaged Joakim Mogren talks Phantom Pain in new interview

bandaged Joakim Mogren talks Phantom Pain in new interview

The strange interview begins with Geoff Keighley of Game Trailers TV asking Joakim Mogren, head of Moby Dick Studios, why his face is completely wrapped in bandages. Joakim explains in a vaguely swedish accent it was because of an accident but he will be recovered in time for GDC. Coincidentally, the Phantom Pain trailer which was debuted last year starts off with a character who’s face is covered in bandages from a car crash. He couldn’t confirm whether the Phantom Pain would be released for Playstation 4 or whether Moby Dick Studios has PS4 dev kits. He continued that GDC 2013 will answer all questions about The Phantom Pain. Keighley also explained how many people suspect that The Phantom Pain and Moby Dick Studios are simply a an elaborate disguise for Metal Gear Solid 5. To this Joakim responds by showing Keighley  some concept art of The Phantom Pain and screenshots of the game. Keighley pointed out that there was a Fox Engine logo at the bottom right of the images to which Joakim’s eyes opened wide in surprise.

To keep things sufficiently weird, a concept video from 2011 “leaked” onto Facebook showing the Phantom Pain running on the “XOC Engine.” Furthermore, Kojima announced that he will be at this years GDC to demonstrate some new Fox Engine footage.

If I may make a prediction, perhaps Kojima and Mogren will meet at GDC? Let the drama begin.
