On Wednesday, March 4, a Kickstarter for an isometric single player RPG will be live. Torment: Tides of Numenera will be a DRM free game for PC and Mac, and possibly more platforms. Although the developer behind Torment: Tides of Numenera has had quite a few games successfully kickstarted.. Such as Wasteland 2 (coming out later this year). However, if Torment: Tides of Numenera they say the release date should be sometime in December of 2014. This upcoming game is set in Monte Cook’s tabletop role-playing world of Numenera, which itself was also successfully funded through Kickstarter. It will have an isometric perspective and runs on the Unity game engine, like Wasteland 2. InXile Entertainment also stated that Tides of Numenera is not a sequel to Planescape: Torment. It is a completely new game, but has been designed to provide the same sort of experience and feeling as Planescape: Torment. InXile Entertainment also says that choices will matter.. “Torment is a game of complex and nuanced morality, deep and reactive choice and consequence, and immersion into a new and strange vision”. InXile Entertainment, the developer behind Torment: Tides of Numenera, is actually made up of veterans, including Brian Fargo, Kevin Saunders, and original Planescape: Torment developers Colin McComb and Adam Heine; and of course Monte Cook.
InXile Entertainment is still working on Wasteland 2, which is due out October 2013.
