Dark Souls II: New engine, PC vs Console version FPS & more revealed

Dark Souls II

From Software’s Dark Souls II is proving to be one of the best sequels in recent gaming history. In some recent interviews, it’s been revealed that Dark Souls II is being developed for the PC with the console versions being ports. Furthermore, the PC version is targeting 60 FPS with the console versions at 30 FPS due to their innate technical limitations. This contrasts the original Dark Souls which was made for consoles and then ported to PC with a host of graphical limitations. Dark Souls 2 is also being developed on brand new code; the developers explain that although it’s on a new engine they’re only interested in current gen hardware. They believe that the current consoles Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 have no been fully utilized yet.

Dark Souls II is being developed by From Software and published by Namco Bandai. It is expected to be released in 2014 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
