The Last Guardian trademark abandoned by Sony

Sony has let the trademark for Team ICO game The Last Guardian expire. What does this mean for the highly anticipated Playstation 3 game? Well, it could mean the game has been cancelled. On the other hand, it also means that the trademark simply expired and needs to be renewed. The trademark for The Last Guardian was filed for in 2009 and lasts 3 years. The name has not been used for a commercial released product yet. Fortunately, there is a grace period for the renewal. According to the “Notice of Abandonment” document that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filed, Sony has 2 months to revive the trademark.

We can hope that this does not spell the end of Trico.
