Respawn Entertainment will apparently be at this years E3 event, atleast according to tweets from the company’s co-founder, Vince Zampella.

EA even got on the Twitter love-fest…

Respawn Entertainment E3 2013 tweet EA

For those who don’t know, Respawn Entertainment is formed from many of the core Infinity Ward developers, the creators of the Call of Duty franchise. Much of the Respawn Entertainment team has worked on multiple Call of Duty titles up to Modern Warfare 2, when Infinity Ward was restarted by Activision. Since then, Respawn has been working on a secret new game for EA, who is interestingly the publisher of the COD series’ main competitors, Medal of Honor (where the Infinity Ward/Respawn founders worked previously) and Battlefield. The Medal of Honor franchise has been removed from the sequel rotation according to EA and supposedly, there will be a new Battlefield game released this year. It’s a possibility that Respawn could be working on Battlefield 4, although it’s also entirely possible that they’re making a brand new IP. One thing that does seem likely is that they’re making an FPS, not just because of the team’s track record, but also because they’ve already gone out to a range to record gun sounds.

In my own opinion, I’d really like to see a new IP from them. A Call of Duty killer if you will, or rather, a Call of Duty challenger.

Quantic Dream is the amazing developer behind some hit games such as OMIKRON: The Nomad Soul for the PC and the Sega DreamcastFahrenheit (also known as Indigo Prophecy in the US) for the PC, X-box, and Playstation 2Heavy Rain for the Playstation 3, and the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls also for the Playstation 3.  We had heard that the French developer Quantic Dream may be making a new game for the Playstation 4, called Singularity. Quantic Dream founder and president David Cage also has ties to Singularity. Cage had recently explained that Ray Kurzweil’s novel The Singularity is Near was a huge influence for Quantic Dream’s “Kara” tech demo from the 2012 Game Developers Conference. Back in November of 2012, Quantic Dream registered the domain ‘singularityps4.com‘ which matches past domains ( heavyrainps3.com and beyondps3.com) that were also bought by Quantic Dream. This domain could also be hinting towards the Playstation 4 not being  named Orbis. Well, we shouldn’t be waiting long to find out though since Sony will be holding a press conference un March of 2013 to unveil the new system.  Although Quantic Dream’s possible next generation hit for the PS4 may not be called Singularity  at all. Since Raven Software’s 2010 shooter ‘Singularity’ already has it and Activision holds the trademark for such name.

It seems Sony, might be getting their act together and taking their work seriously.

The Playstation Vita which was so utterly betrayed at E3, was given a warm reception at Gamescom. They finally seized some opportunities that they’d ignored at E3 this year, and they’re coming up with more PSN exclusives which should help them beef up their support base, it would be nice to see more support looking toward serious gamers, as we’re the most likely to buy an expensive handheld gaming console these days.

Sony has also stepped up its game, with new exclusive titles that are really shaping up to be interesting and unique. Along with Wonderbook, which got a rather cold shoulder at E3, got to flex a bit more muscle at Gamescom.

It seems Sony is finally getting serious, and realizing that if they want to stay the console kings, they’re going to have to fight for it. So what can we expect when we see PS4?

Salutations,

So who here likes to kill zombies? Yeah, I figured you might. Well then you should be as psyched as I am about the Ubisoft’s new zombie game called, ZombiU. This game is being released as a Wii U exclusive title. Ubisoft made quite a splash at E3 and are even being called the new EA or Activision as a major 3rd party game company, putting out AAA titles, except they aren’t showing signs of heavy DLC rape.

This reveal trailer from E3 certain does set the correct mood for this game.:

It really does look pretty impressive. I like the way the Wii U uses its new controller, I have a feeling that this will change the common clumsiness of zombie games. As demonstrated in this video:

Is it just me or does that look pretty cool? Yeah I thought you’d agree. Also you can see that this game has some fairly in-depth combat, using a melody of melee and ranged weapons including a crossbow. Another nice touch is looting, which seems to have become common in the types of FPS now, which is good.

ZombiU is based in present day London, and takes the best parts of all the greatest horror games and movies, and puts its own unique and welcome twist on it. It also has a unique mechanic, when you die, there is no respawn. Instead, you’re transferred to play as another survivor. Then you can find your old zombie self, and kill it to recoup your equipment. How cool does that sound? This is shaping up to be one very memorable game.

As you’ll see in this 10 minute gameplay video:

However, its possible that this game won’t be totally Wii U exclusive, like RE4. Tony Key, the senior VP of Sales and Marketing for Ubisoft, mentioned in an IGN interview that while there would have to be a lot of changes to ZombiU to put it on another system that would reduce its fun, it was not impossible, simply not within the near future. However like RE4, its possible that this will get ported around to other systems, after first being a Nintendo exclusive.

I guess we’ll see… won’t Wii……..U?

Either way, this is being shown as a core title for Wii U, and this is just the kind of game that the Wii U needs in order to be taken seriously. Keep those boomsticks loaded, and look out for ZombiU on Wii U.

Cheers,
