It seems IO finally wised up, after a huge back lash to their idiotic recasting of 47, they finally brought David Bateson back for the 5th Hitman game, just as the gods had intended all along.

Long time Hitman fans can finally stop sending death threats to IO and Square Enix, for their demands are met. Despite the worries, it seems Absolution is finding its way back on track. Thankfully, they are starting to realize that while broadening your fan base is all well and good, they shouldn’t just throw their hardcores, the people who made them who they are, to the wolves.

For those who don’t know, David Bateson has been the Voice of Agent 47 since the Character’s Debut in 2000, 47 was recast for the newest game, but IO has now  reinstated him to his rightful throne.

Bateson released this message to his fans as a triumphant fanfare for his return:

On behalf of BSMH and all the hardcore Hitman fans out there, “Welcome back Bateson, 47 just wouldn’t be the same without you”.

So imagine a game with the tag line “A hyper-speed shoot out in space”… A game called Phalanx on the SNES did. What would you imagine?

Well according to some dude who worked at Kemco, you’re wrong. Obviously, its an old hill billy and his banjo. Yeah, maybe they were appealing to America’s grassroots schmup crowd? I think they should’ve been fired.

Day Z is all about survival… and zombies. This is a game where you have to manage food and water, keep an eye on injuries, even your character’s pain threshold, bandits, transportation, sleep, and, of course, zombies.

Its a free mod of Arma II, the game made by Czech developer Bohemia Interactive. Day Z is made by Dean Hall, who is an employee of Bohemia Interactive. The system requirements are fairly low considering, since it only runs on Arma II. Day Z has also been optimized for online play and has sections of its code completely rewritten to allow for all the Zombies.

You’ll spend a lot of time collecting stuff including car parts, because in this mod vehicles break down and can be repaired. Like in an actual survival situation. Of course, not everyone is a friendly zombie killer, looking to regroup with his fellow man and build a pillow fort. There are going to be Bandits, which are kinda like PKs from Diablo. These guys roll around killing other players to jack your stuff. Of course, if you kill the bandits first, you get to jack their stuff instead.

Its also important to understand that this mod is an Alpha, so be kind and understand its gonna have bugs.

The big news is that Day Z is officially being released as a standalone game. Think like a Counter Strike / Half-Life type of thing. This is great news as it already has over 1 million players!

You can read the official announcement on the DAY Z Dev team blog here.

As you all know, we’re gonna be at Quake Con. One of the awesome looking games that will be on display there is Dishonored, from Developer Arkane Studios. This game really will have some power house skill working on it. To name a few, Harvey Smith, notable for his work on the Deus Ex series, Viktor Antonov, who designed City 17 in Half Life 2, and Raf Colantonio, the founder of Arkane, who worked on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Their influences are definitely visible in this game as you’ll see below:

Yes this game is shaping up to be something else, with the use of various weapons and powers. A clean mix of stealth and action gameplay, allowing you to choose between being an elite assassin, or a psychopathic slasher.

This game also features a very cool steam punk motif, that doesn’t feel like the way over done kind of steam punk either. A variety of cool enemies, and assignments will keep you busy as you take down your targets.

Look forward to Dishonored’s release in October, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Cheers,
